Sand Filter & The Valve Settings ⚙

So you got a sand filter but don’t know what all the different settings are used for or even do. Don’t worry we got you covered.

FILTER: Under normal operations and 99% of the time you’ll be on this setting. Pool water is sucked into the sand filter to filter out waste and debris. Clean water is then returned to the pool.

BACKWASH: When your filter pressure rises above 10PSI it’s a good idea to complete a backwash. Water is revered up to “fluff up” the sand to remove any trapped debris then forced out the waste line. Water is not returned to the pool. Complete a backwash for 2-3 minutes.

RINSE: You just completed a backwash, it’s a good idea to “rinse” the sand to force water back down to the sand. Water is sent to the waste line and is not returned to the pool. Complete a rinse for 30+secs

WASTE: This just avoids the filter sand completely, water is send to the waste line. Good for algae clean up, lowering pool water level, or for vacuuming very dirty water

RECIRCULATE: Water doesn’t get filter but gets recirculated back into the pool. This option could be good for fast mixing of pool water when filtering is not required.

CLOSED: Blocks all valves on the filter. DO NOT RUN YOUR FILTER ON THIS OPTION! IT WILL DAMAGE YOUR PUMP & FILTER!

WINTERIZE: Leaves all valves opens so any freezing of water has space to expand and prevent damage.

Always turn the pump OFF before changing the valve position.
⚠ Changing it while the pump is running could damage the valve and the gasket.
